Nanzen-ji is head temple of the Rinzai Nanzen-ji sect in Sakyo-ku, Kyoto-shi, Kyoto. As “Above Gozan” in the Muromachi period, per the highest rank among the Zen of Japan, it flourished as the center of Gozan literature. In Kabuki “Sammongosannokiri”, Ishikawa Goemon is “Zekkeikana, Zekkeikana” dialogue say that watching the cherry blossoms in full bloom from the top of the temple gate of Nanzenji famous “Sanmen” and, such as “SUIROKAKU” through the precincts will is famous.
